Day 1: Armchair BEA 2014- Introduction

designed by nina of nina reads

1)  Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging? Where in the world are you blogging from?

My name is Maricel, but online I use Marcey. I've been using Marcey for about 3 years because over the years, COUNTLESS people have pronounced my name, ways I've never even thought of before!! I actually don't have a preference on how my name is pronounced, but the spelling always counts. I had this blog for not too long, because I remade! I used to have another book blog, but I lost my password and couldn't save it. Now the blog deactivated because I tried to get hold of it, but failed. I'm back and better than ever, as I would like to say. I love blogging! I guess I've gotten into blogging like many others: books. I am blogging from California, United States.

2)  Describe your blog in just one sentence. Then, list your social details -- Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. -- so we can connect more online.

A YA blog that consists of reviews and rambling.

3)  What genre do you read the most? I love to read because ___________________ .

The genre I read the most is (of course) Young-Adult! I love to read YA because it speaks to my literary heart. YA just connects to my teenage heart, nonetheless.

4) Share your favorite book or reading related quote.

I have so many, but here is one that stood out above the rest:
"Sometimes I think that maybe we are just stories. Like we may as well just be words on a page, because we’re only what we’ve done and what we are going to do" - Jodi Lynn Anderson

 5)  What does your favorite/ideal reading space look like?

My favorite reading space is my bedroom. To be more specific, my bed. My IDEAL reading space would be in a tranquil book store with free Starbucks.

And that is basically it for DAY 1 ARMCHAIR BEA- INTRODUCTION. I would love to know if you're taking part this year, and your link to your post! Have a lovely week!

  2. Oooh, Starbucks! A girl after my own heart. If you ever get to find the tranquil bookstore with the free Starbucks, can I come too?

  3. Not sure, but is Maricel like Maricella...I know two of those. Here's my pronunciation guess: Maw Ree Cell. Names are tricky. I grew up in the fifties and sixties and every third girl was named Debbie. I'd have loved to have a name that was different, I think!

Welcome to Armchair BEA! Nice to meet you.

    1. Your pronunciation sounds about right because that's how I see it! Sometimes I wish for a simple name, but oh well. Thanks!

  4. It's funny how what we choose to read reveals a bit about who we really are. I'm apparently really a 12 year old boy who likes football. I'd read more YA if I were in a high school, but since I'm in middle school, I content myself with reading reviews of YA on blogs like yours. Have fun with Armchair BEA.

    1. Yes, your choice of genre tells a lot about a person! Thanks!

  5. I also use a short version of my name, because I've had crazy pronoun cations and writing ways of my name too (and it's not that difficult..) I've never heard of your name before, but I love it :D It's a shame you lost your other blog, but your design on this one looks great!

    1. Yeah, creating a new nickname for yourself is frustrating, but fun! Thanks it's kind of a struggle regaining back my followers, but I guess it's like starting fresh. Thanks, have fun with Armchair BEA!

  6. I love the quote you included. Seriously fantastic. I would love it on a poster or something to put up on my wall! And free Starbucks, YES. I love coffee and basically everything in Starbucks is fantastic. And just because I'm curious, what's your favourite drink?

Oh, by the way, I love the new header! Really cute!

    1. I bet if you searched crazy, the quote would be on a poster. Starbucks is my calling! I suck at favorites but maybe Vanilla Bean frap is a given and maybe a lemonade tea! How about you? And thanks! My header took a lot of inspiration and coffee!

    2. Haha, coffee is the secret to getting things done! And I haven't had lemonade tea because I'm not a tea girl and tend to stay away from that section of the menu but vanilla bean frappes are the best!! I also really love hazelnut macchiatos. Mmm.

  7. Hi Marcey! "YA just connects to my teenager heart" - yes mine too. Or maybe it's better to say it revives my teenage heart - considering I haven't been a teenager for 15 years. But hey - who's counting? Enjoyed learning a bit about you! Enjoy Armchair BEA!

  8. Hallo, Hallo! :)

*waves!* I am a cheerREADER on Team4 of #ArmChairBEA! I did not get to visit ahead of midnight as I simply ran out of time as the clock ticked closer to midnight! It is my first time participating as a cheerleader & I am simply thankful that I sorted out to find the blogs I need to visit! :) Sorry to hear that you lost your original book blog, but the fact that you were able to re-invent your blog & carry-on the direction of where you wanted to have it is a credit to your passion!

You should always focus on the genre and themes which interest you, and if YA speaks to your heart than that is why you should focus on reading YA books & stories! I do not think stories are limited by age nor by where you are in on your lifepath. If the story strikes a chord inside you and you find joy in what your reading, than it solidifies the choice! At least you can find joy in sharing the books you are reading once again!

I have a friend named Maricel. Not sure if you two pronounce it the same way. She uses a nickname too. LOL!

If I had my way, I'd offer free Starbucks to everyone! Happy Armchair BEA!
