There are three rules in the Walled City: Run fast. Trust no one. Always carry your knife. Right now, my life depends completely on the first. Run, run, run.
Jin, Mei Yee, and Dai all live in the Walled City, a lawless labyrinth run by crime lords and overrun by street gangs. Teens there run drugs or work in brothels—or, like Jin, hide under the radar. But when Dai offers Jin a chance to find her lost sister, Mei Yee, she begins a breathtaking race against the clock to escape the Walled City itself. [goodreads]

My Thoughts:

IN A NUTSHELL: The Walled City is one of those novels that you want to last longer than usual time. It shows that most innocent people suffer the most. An action-packed and emotional book that shows the power of surviving and how important it really is. It’s a great achievement in world building, wonderfully executed. Highly recommended when released!

Three teens are trying to survive in the Walled City: full of crime lords, street gangs, and brothels. They must learn how to trust others and escape the never ending maze of survival.

If you've read the "In a Nutshell" that basically shows my over all thoughts on the novel, so this will be a fairly short review. It's mind blowing to think The Walled City was an actual place in China. With the right use of fiction, it can be made into a heart pounding novel. This was a unique kind of young adult literature. I would definitely label this in the "diversity" section. The antagonists scared me to cold blood. It would be an understatement to call the story line merely "intense".

THE WALLED CITY is a survival story that will touch many hearts. Maybe even yours. I recommend you guys go and pre order THE WALLED CITY!
